La Empanada gallega es un plato muy típico que forma parte de una de las entidades de la cocina gallega. Este plato se conoce en Galicia desde la época de los godos en el siglo VII, cuando se decretaron normas para su producción. Se trataba de una comida idónea para viajantes, por ser una preparación ya tapada que permitía evitar el contacto del interior con el polvo de los caminos. La primera empanada de la que se tiene referencia es de pollo y champiñones. Esta preparación culinaria que se ofrece en los municipios Gallegos en las fiestas y romerías. Suele prepararse con diversos contenidos en su interior, todos ellos procedentes de las costas y tierras gallegas. Se puede servir fría o caliente.
